05/2004: Defunkt "New York" will play in Portugal June 11. Line-up: Joseph Bowie, Kim Clarke, Adam Klipple, Alex Harding and Introducing Jeffrey van Duffelen on drums. Details will follow asap. There will also be a workshop with the band.

05/2004: the Kosen-Rufu trio will perform at the "Soul AM See" festival in Duisburg, Germany on july 24. with special guest Hans Dulfer.

09/2003: Joe Bowie performed with Dutch sax hero Hans Dulfer in The Hague. Screaming horns and heavy beats made the foundation of the venue tremble. Reconstruction of the building will start next week :-) We'll keep you informed with any continuation in the near future. For pictures click here.

09/2002: Here is some more information about the DEFUNKT gig in Berlin at the Haus De Kulturen Der Welt at The Back Room on 7/9/02 & 8/9/02. The theme was called "DEFUNKT - Black America", Three of the songs performed had lyrics written by a death row inmate named Richard Earl Head-Williams II. We handed out his life story at the gig and provided his address for anyone who desires to write him. We ran out of the handouts. We had a number of fans ask for his address at the CD stand after the gig.

09/2002: Last tournews: Joe Bowie will tour with Sigi Finkel and his African Heart Band, for dates see the tourdates.

09/2002: Due to technical problems it has been a while since the last update.(I hate computers......)

06/2002: Joe and brother Byron Bowie will be conducting music of the Defunkt Big Band with Austrian musicians in Wiener Neustadt. October 23-27, 2002. Details later.

06/2002: Joe Bowie will be recording Trombone solos on Sigi finkel's African Heart Band's new CD. Joe's nephew, Bahnamous Bowie will engineer the overdubs on the new album. Also Joe will perform in Switzerland on August 24, to play a Festival with Dave Doran. Details later.
July 8th and 9th, Defunkt will begin recording the new Defunkt Studio CD, "Why Can't We See".
September 8th and 9th, Joe is in Berlin, conducting music workshops, coordinated by Jean-Paul Bourelly.
On July 18-21, Joe will attend a Native American Pow-Wow in Elmo, Montana. USA on the Kootnai Reservation.

05/2002: The new double live album is out now. The album is called "live in Europe" is is distributed by Music Avenue and in the shops now!

05/2002: Defunkt will perform at a World Trade Center Benefit Concert at the knitting Factory on May 20th. Also Slide Ride w/ Joe Bowie, Craig Harris, Gary Valente, and Ray Anderson will perform at the Wooster St. Project on May 21, 22, 23 at the Performing Garage at 33 Wooster St. , Manhattan.
